Abstract: | In this paper, a patient model using Artificial Intelligence techniques
is proposed in the context of a Virtual Reality-based training simulator
for medical emergencies. Some implementation aspects of this training
simulator are also described; emphasizing how patient behaviour is
modelled by means of an Expert System and how this approach can emulate
the complex behaviour required for this application. We also present
some discussion about the sense of presence, and how this modelling
approach works well, eliciting high degrees of presence. Finally,
some issues about the implementation process of the knowledge base
are discussed. |
